VPD Attends CVIPI Conference
The US Department of Justice hosted its inaugural CVIPI Conference in St. Louis, MO in February. The conference marked the inaugural convening of communities funded under the department’s Community Based Violence Intervention (CVI) and Prevention Initiative, a first-of-its-kind federal grant program tailored to support community-driven safety solutions and reduce gun violence.
The City of Vallejo Police Department attended as a grantee for Project HOPE - the department's comprehensive CVI program that deploys innovative strategies throughout Vallejo communities in partnership with community-based organizations and individuals with lived experience.
LVJUSD Wins $5.7M For K-5 school mental health
In February 2023, Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District won $5.7 million to establish an elementary school counseling program that will increase elementary students’ access to tiered counseling services, supporting the needs and priorities of their students.
BGCPRs’ YouthBuild Graduation
In August 2023, the Boys and Girls Club of Puerto Rico graduated 42 participants from its YouthBuild Program.
BGCPR Visits Capitol Hill
In late February, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Puerto Rico (BGCPR) President Olga Ramos and Omayra Matamoros Ríos, the Director of Development and Stakeholders Relations, conducted a successful visit on Capitol Hill. They met with Resident Commissioner Jenniffer Gonzalez-Colon, Congresswoman Nydia Velázquez, Department of Justice Administrators and Advisors, and Department of Education Advisors and Staff.
