Bringing Neurology Care to Gustine, California

In February 2024, the Community Health Centers of America (CHCA), the Department of Neurology at UC San Francisco (UCSF), and Legacy Health Endowment launched their collaboration to address the scarcity of neurology services in rural parts of Stanislaus and Merced counties. Beginning February 16, UCSF neurologists will be available at the CHCA clinic in Gustine, 489 Fifth St. A rotating group of neurologists from UCSF will see patients every other Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., making it more convenient for residents of the West Side who now must travel more than an hour in many cases for neurology services.

 

Boys and Girls Club of Puerto Rico hosts youthbuild graduation

In August 2023, the Boys and Girls Club of Puerto Rico (BGCPR) graduated 42 participants from its YouthBuild Program. YouthBuild is a program of BGCPR that provides educational services aimed at obtaining the fourth year of high school and job training for participants, including components of emotional support, development of leadership skills and job placement and/or post-secondary studies.

Groundbreaking Ceremony Marks the start of the construction of the Stack Youth & Family Center

The City of Hayward, County of Alameda, Hayward Area Recreation and Park District, and partner agencies held a groundbreaking on February 8, 2024 to celebrate the start of the first phase of construction on the new the Stack Youth & Family Center. The first phase of construction will transform the exiting Matt Jimenez Community Center into an affordable childcare center for infants through preschoolers, install bay friendly landscaping, and create a community event plaza for large outdoor gatherings. Future phases will redevelop the current Eden Youth and Family Center (formerly Tennyson Elementary School) at the corner of Tennyson and Ruus roads.

LA FAMILIA CENTRAL VALLEY RIBBON CUTTING AND OPEN HOUSE

On May 8, 2023, La Familia Central Valley (LFCV) celebrated its Open House and Ribbon Cutting with community partners, elected officials, community members, along with LFCV leadership and staff. During the Ribbon Cutting ceremony, LFCV recognized Congressman Josh Harder and Jeffrey Lewis, CEO/President of Legacy Health Endowment for their commitment to and advocacy for ensuring that all those in California’s Central Valley have access to high-quality, culturally appropriate mental health care when they need it.

Leaven Kids Opens New Center in Vallejo, California

In October 2023, Leaven Kids opened a new tutoring center at Norman King Center in Vallejo, California. The project is part of the CAL VIP (Violence and Prevention grant) and part of Vallejo Project Hope in conjunction with the Vallejo Police Department and city as well as other services. It has teamed up to provide resource fair and providing support for children from kindergarten to adulthood with many programs including Broken By Violence and SaneSart. The police department will also provide services.

 

Livermore Valley Joint UnifieD School District Wins $5.7M For K-5 school mental health

In February 2023, Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District won $5.7 million to establish an elementary school counseling program that will increase elementary students’ access to tiered counseling services, supporting the needs and priorities of their students.
