In late February, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Puerto Rico (BGCPR) President Olga Ramos and Omayra Matamoros Ríos, the Director of Development and Stakeholders Relations, conducted a successful visit on Capitol Hill. They met with Resident Commissioner Jenniffer Gonzalez-Colon, Congresswoman Nydia Velázquez, Department of Justice Administrators and Advisors, and Department of Education Advisors and Staff.

The conference marked the inaugural convening of communities funded under the department’s Community Based Violence Intervention (CVI) and Prevention Initiative, a first-of-its-kind federal grant program tailored to support community-driven safety solutions and reduce gun violence.
